Communication Design
Information Graphics | Design Research | Curriculum Design | DIY projects
Educational content for any age group relies upon visual imagery to communicate effectively meaning of concepts to learners. I provide services in visual communication for design of image rich educational content.
Character Design
Research has shown that one of the ways that humans learn is by watching actions of other people succeeding or failing at something. I have tried to implement this research in my work by creating several Characters or avatars of learners. For example character of a scientist to depict how a scientist thinks. Or character of a corporate leader to inspire leadership thinking. Or an ever evolving droid that learns from past successes and failure.
Educational Comics
Research has shown that memory recall of students significantly increases when information is presented to students in the form of visuals and narratives. I have tried to implement this research in my work by designing (writing and illustrating) several educational comics for teaching science.
Information Graphics
Research has shown that human mind has a great capacity to remember large amount of information if it is presented in a visual form. Images and visuals arranged an a particular order is easily recalled by mind. I have tried to implement this research in design of several information graphic design projects to communicate educational information
Educational Games
Research has shown that Games are effective in motivation and behaviour change for excelling on a learning task. I have used this research in some game design projects for teaching concepts in science. My future interest is in using games for developing learning behaviour
Tinkering Lab
Research in embodied cognition has shown that learning happens not just in the human mind, but in the whole body. Body has its own memory and intelligence which works with the mind to learn from experience. Whole body is engaged in learning when all the 5 senses are involved in a construction task. I have tried to use learning from this research for developing new creative exercises to be used in tinkering labs

c) Game design based on cutting edge game based learning research
My past research work was about design of stories for teaching science, Problems of creativity in science education, Knowledge organisation through concept maps and analysis of innovations by adult and children in India. Here are some of my published research papers.
